Thousands protest in Japan

An estimated 120,000 people are protesting outside Japan’s parliament opposing new legislation that would allow the military to deploy overseas for the first time since World War Two. This rally was one of over 300 rallies this weekend around the country.

Advice For Travellers

So far, the demonstrations are peaceful. Police are along the streets urging people to keep moving to minimize disruption in the city center. Expect disruptions to traffic flow. Travellers may want to avoid the area around the Japanese parliament.
