Three cholera outbreaks in Kenya

Three counties in Kenya are struggling with cholera outbreaks. In Nakuru County, new cases continue to be reported in spite of control efforts. So far, there have been 63 cases and 10 deaths.

In Murang’a County, there have been 2 deaths with 40 people hospitalized.

In Nairobi County, at least 30 people have been hospitalized.

All travellers to any area where cholera has been reported can reduce the risk of exposure to this infection by strictly observing all food and water precautions. If gastrointestinal symptoms (e.g., vomiting and profuse watery diarrhoea) develop while visiting the affected area, travellers should seek medical care at once.
