Total security breakdown in Darfur, Sudan, leads to curfew

After an attack by gunmen on a government motorcade killed 7 people in Sudan's Darfur, authorities have imposed a curfew and closed all schools. While violent episodes have decreased since 2003-2004, security in this region is non-existent due to banditry, tribal fighting and clashes between rebels and government forces. Travellers are advised to avoid all travel to Sudan at this time.
