Traveller from Hong Kong acquires avian flu in Dongguan, Guangdong, China

A person who travelled to the city of Dongguan on two occasions and purchased 2 slaughtered chickens at a live poultry market has been diagnosed with the serious respiratory avian flu H7N9 on his return to Hong Kong. While there is still little evidence of person-to-person transmission of this virus, travellers should minimize any risk of exposure to this virus by avoiding live poultry markets.
