Travellers bring dengue fever to Hong Kong

Of the 110 cases of dengue fever reported so far this year in Hong Kong, only 3 people became infected by local mosquitoes. All the remaining 107 became infected while travelling abroad. The latest case returned from travelling in Malaysia.

Although the risk of exposure to dengue virus in Hong Kong is very low, travellers to areas where the dengue fever virus is active can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites.
