Tribal violence continues in Kenya (update)

More than 100 people have been shot, hacked and burnt to death in the last three weeks as the Pokomo and Orma tribes have fought over cattle grazing on land claimed by both sides. More recently, armed raiders killed at least 38 villagers and torched more than 150 houses in the village of Kilelengwani in the latest fighting. A curfew has been declared in the Tana River Country.

Travellers should consider avoiding travel in this area in order not to be caught in possible cross fire between the two groups.
