Two cases of yellow fever in Alto Paraíso de Goiás, Goiás, Brazil

Two people were infected with yellow fever (jungle form) in Alto Paraíso de Goiás, about 400 km from the capital of Goiânia. One of the patients has died.

Travellers to areas where there is a risk of exposure to yellow fever can reduce that risk by obtaining a yellow fever vaccination before travelling or before visiting an outbreak area. In addition, travellers should take all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Travellers should register any changes in their itinerary with Sitata because new destinations might require proof of yellow fever vaccination.
