Two cholera outbreaks in Zambia

In Kapongo Village in Chipili District of Luapula Province, there have been 4 deaths reported due to a diarrhoeal disease suspected to be cholera. The total number of cases is not reported.

In Lukanga Swamps in Kapiri Mposhi, a new case of cholera has been reported. Since September 2012, there have been 55 cases reported.

Travellers to this area can reduce the risk of exposure to cholera by strictly observing all food and water precautions. If visiting this area and if gastrointestinal symptoms develop, e.g., vomiting and watery diarrhoea, travellers should seek medical care at once.
