Two days of violence in Central African Republic leave hundreds dead

In Bangui, the capital of the Central African Republic, two straight days of violence have left hundreds dead in clashes between Christians and Muslims. French troops arrived today to help quell the violence and stabilize the country.

Many countries advise their citizens to avoid travel to the Central African Republic due to a civil unrest and political tension. The security situation continues to deteriorate due to armed rebel activities and high levels of serious and violent crime. Some countries are advising citizens already in the country to stay in a safe place with supplies, and if possible, to depart the country if it is safe to do so.
