Two people die in dispute over water rights in Bangalore, India

Paramilitary forces restored relative calm in the Indian city of Bangalore following 2 deaths during riots precipitated by a court ruling over an ongoing water dispute between the states of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. The Supreme Court ordered Karnataka to release water from its reservoirs on the Cauvery River for farmers in Tamil Nadu who were facing severe drought conditions.
