Two people kidnapped in eastern Sabah, Malaysia

Gunmen kidnapped two workers on Monday from a fish farm near Kunak, Malaysia, in eastern Sabah. Sabah is a popular tourist destination and diving resort.

Due to the threat of kidnapping, travel warnings continue to advise travellers to avoid all but essential travel to eastern Sabah, including tourist areas and dive sites. Areas of particular concern include all islands off the coast of eastern Sabah from Kudat to Tawau and particularly the islands close to the Sulu Archipeligo in the southern Philippines.
