Two primary school students die in outbreak of food-borne intoxication.

Health authorities in Kamonyi have reported an outbreak of food intoxication (food poisoning) among students in a primary school. Two of the students died while over 200 were hospitalized. Although many of the hospitalized students have since been discharged, the source of the outbreak is still under investigation.

Since this outbreak appears confined to the primary school, there is little risk for travellers to this area. However, since the exact cause of the outbreak has not been determined yet, and since it may involve food prepared outside the school, travellers are reminded of the importance of avoiding consumption of unsafe food and water.
