Two separate violent events in Pakistan reflect ethnic tensions

In Peshawar, a bomb was detonated outside a mosque in the densely populated Mohalla Baqar Shah area of Peshawar during afternoon prayers. Four people were killed and 28 wounded, some seriously.

In a separate incident, more than 3,000 Muslim protesters set fire to a Christian neighbourhood in Lahore after rumours that a young man had made derogatory remarks against Prophet Muhammad.

Travellers should be aware that personal security in some areas of Pakistan is tenuous at best. Some countries are advising their citizens to consider postponing their travels to Pakistan at this time.
