Typhoid Fever - alarming increase in cases in last 15 days in Indore, Madhya Pradesh State, India

Health officials in the Indore District have reported 61 cases of typhoid fever detected in the last 15 days. So far in 2012, a total of 318 laboratory confirmed cases have been registered.

Travellers to this area can reduce their risk of exposure to typhoid fever by being cautious and avoiding consuming contaminated food or water. Vaccination against typhoid fever should be considered, especially if unsafe food cannot be avoided.
