Typhoid fever increases in Mumbai, India

Health officials in Mumbai have reported a 3-fold increase in reported typhoid cases in the month of September. A total of 167 patients were treated for this infection during the month. Travellers to this city can reduce their risk of exposure to typhoid fever by being cautious and avoiding consuming contaminated food or water. Vaccination against typhoid fever should be considered, especially if unsafe food cannot be avoided.
