Typhoid fever outbreak continues in southern Cebu Island in the Philippines.

Health officials have reported that the outbreak of typhoid fever continues with at least 100 person affected in Central Visayas since late last week. The Regional Epidemiological and Surveillance Unit in Central Visayas has recorded 142 cases of suspected typhoid fever from the mountain barangays of Madridejos and Valencia. About 22 patients have been admitted in nearby Badian District Hospital.

Travellers to this area should be aware of the risk of exposure to typhoid fever and take all necessary precautions to avoid consuming contaminated food and water.
