Typhoid fever outbreak in Kampala area (Uganda) increases

Control efforts have intensified in Kampala City and parts of the neighbouring districts of Wakiso and Mukono as cases of typhoid fever continue to increase. So far, 513 cases had been identified. Travellers to any area where there are cases of typhoid fever can reduce their risk of exposure by being cautious and avoiding consuming food or water that is contaminated. Vaccination against typhoid fever should be considered, especially if unsafe food or water cannot be avoided.
