Typhoid fever outbreak in Kampala, Uganda, is expanding

In one week in mid-February, the number of reported cases of typhoid fever in the on-going outbreak increased from 142 cases to 560. Travellers to any area where there are cases of typhoid fever can reduce their risk of exposure by being cautious and avoiding consuming food or water that is contaminated. Vaccination against typhoid fever should be considered, especially if unsafe food or water cannot be avoided.
