United States issues security warning for Americans in Saudi Arabia and Egypt

The U.S. Department of State has posted alerts warning citizens of the increased threat toward Westerners and Western interests in Saudi Arabia and Maadi, Egypt, including international schools and Western teachers.

The U.S. Department of State advises citizens in these countries to remain vigilant about personal security and highly aware of surroundings and local security. Avoid crowds and any large gathering in public. Know where you are going and have a plan if you encounter trouble. In your area, identify safe areas, i.e. police stations, hospitals, etc. Minimize your profile in public. Westerners should have emergency numbers and their country’s embassy phone number keyed into their mobile phones.
