Unofficial reports of cholera cases in Matanzas Province, Cuba

There are unofficial reports of dozens (exact number not specified) of cases of cholera in Matanzas Province. The affected communities are reported to be Cárdenas, Unión de Reyes, Jovellanos, Pedro Betancourt and Martí. Although there is no official confirmation of this outbreak, travellers to these areas can reduce the risk of exposure to cholera by strictly observing all food and water precautions. If gastrointestinal symptoms (e.g., vomiting and profuse watery diarrhoea) develop while visiting the affected area, travellers should seek medical care at once.
