Unofficial reports of malaria outbreak in Rodas, Cuba

There are unofficial reports that a dozen patients have been hospitalized due to a possible outbreak of malaria in the municipality of Rodas. Reports state that mosquito control measures are being implemented.

In general, the risk of exposure to malaria in Cuba is extremely low. Other infections, such as dengue fever, may mimic malaria. Until there is official confirmation of malaria as the cause of this outbreak, travellers to the affected municipality should take precautions to avoid mosquito bites.
