Unpasteurized milk in UK causes severe food poisoning

Six cases of food poisoning due to consumption of unpasteurized milk that was contaminated with campylobacter bacteria have been traced to milk produced by Low Sizergh Barn Farm, Kendal.

Travellers are reminded that consumption of unpasteurized (raw) milk is a common cause of severe food poisoning. Contamination of milk supplies can occur even in well developed countries such as the UK, in spite of good dairy practices. Unpasteurized milk and milk products should be avoided.
