Update on Strike in Ethiopia

The U.S. Embassy in Addis Ababa has posted a notice that although the “stay at home” strike is at an end, many areas of the Oromia region are still affected. Delays and limited service continue for public transportation in Oromia, and reports indicate roadblocks along the Addis Ababa and Oromia border. Protests are reported in the cities of Jimma and Awaday.

Avoid travel to these areas. Travellers already in these areas should avoid large public gatherings and protests and stay in a safe place until the strike action completely ends.
