Violence continuing in Israel

Violent attacks continue, including a wave of violence on Tuesday in Jerusalem, Raanana and Haifa. Shootings, stabbings and running cars into groups of people continue, including an attack on a public transportation bus. The mayor of Jerusalem has asked Israeli security forces to close the city’s Arab neighbourhoods to attempt to contain the violence.

Advice

Travellers should be aware of the continuing potential for violence, particularly in East and West Jerusalem, the Old City, and West Bank. With respect to personal safety, be vigilant and constantly aware of your surroundings. There is a risk that tourists could get caught in violent incidents. Road closures, security checkpoints, and closures of entrances to sites can occur without notice. Exercise caution when driving on Route 443 between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.
