Violence during Belfast's Orange Order parade

Rioting erupted at Monday's Orange Order July 12 parade in Belfast when police tried to block the parade from passing a restricted area. The Loyalists attacked police with bottles, cans and other projectiles, injuring 25 officers, including almost severing one officer’s ear. A 16-year-old girl is recovering after a car drove into a crowd during the mayhem.

Advice For Travellers

Travellers should be aware that tension in north Belfast is very high at this time. Avoid the Woodvale, Twaddell and Ardoyne areas.
