Violence in Jerusalem appears to be escalating

Violence and tension seem to be escalating in Jerusalem. Only hours after clashes at Temple Mount, a Palestinian rammed his van into pedestrians in Jerusalem killing a policeman and injuring 13 people. Hamas militants claim responsibility. Wednesday, a Palestinian motorist drove into a group of Israeli soldiers in the West Bank. Two weeks ago, a car attack killed a mother and baby. This morning Palestinian men threw rocks and bottles at Israeli military who were escorting hundreds of Israeli settlers to Joseph’s tomb.

This area is sacred and historically significant to Christians, Jews, Samaritans, and Muslims and is claimed by both Israel and Palestinians who want to make East Jerusalem the centre of their future state.
