Violence over two days leaves at least 25 dead in Iraq

At least 25 people were killed in two days of violence in Iraq by gunmen or car bombs. Analysts are concerned that this surge in violence that has occurred since the beginning of the year will not be resolved until general elections due in 2014.

Any travellers in Iraq should be aware of the lack of personal security and safety. Some countries advise their citizens to avoid travel to this country. Check with your own country's recommendations for travel since a traveller's level of safety may be also connected to their country's political relations with Iraq.
