Violent protests in Guinea leave one dead

In Labé, Guinea, police clashed with anti-government protesters beating to death one protester and wounding four others. Also in the capital, Conakry, young people set up barricades and threw rocks at police who responded with tear gas.

Travellers should be aware that the Guinea presidential elections are scheduled for October 11, 2015. More demonstrations are expected and could continue to be violent. To minimize safety risk, avoid all areas of public gatherings or protests.
