Volcano eruption possible after earthquakes in Iceland

Many small earthquakes in the area of the Bárðarbunga volcano may be cause a major eruption. Iceland has raised its aviation alert level for the risk of a possible volcanic eruption to orange, the second-most severe level. In 2010, the eruption of the volcano Eyjafjallajokul resulted in the cancellation of more than 100,000 flights trans-Atlantic flights due to volcanic ash floating in the atmosphere.

Airline passengers should be aware that flights may be canceled on very short notice.
