Warning to avoid boiled bamboo shoots in Thailand

Health authorities in Thailand are warning the public to avoid consuming contaminated boiled bamboo shoots packaged in plastic bags or buckles. These products are available from street vendors and other sources and may be contaminated with botulism toxin. Authorities advise the public to re-boil bagged or buckled boiled bamboo shoots prior to consumption for 15 minutes.
