Wave of deadly bombings in Pattani province in Thailand

A wave of bombings has occurred in Pattani province in southern Thailand killing two people and injuring as many as 52 people. The blasts reportedly hit four 7-11 convenience stores, two gas stations, and three other locations.

Travellers should be aware that many countries advise citizens to avoid travel to the Yala, Pattani, Narathiwat and Songkhla provinces due to the frequency of violent attacks for the past several years by armed local separatist groups. Although these attacks are generally directed at security officials and Thai government interests, they have targeted public areas, including areas frequented by foreigners.
