Weekend Protests in Hong Kong - 18 to 20 October

There are weekend protests planned for the coming weekend (18-20 October) across Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, and the New Territories. The U.S. Embassy reports a protest at Zhongshan Square at the University of Hong Kong at 17:00.  At 20:00, groups will form human chains at MTR stations across Hong Kong. For Saturday (19 October), an International Humanitarian Rescue Prayers (Hongkongers S.O.S.) Rally is planned at Chater Garden in Central at 19:30. On Sunday (20 October), the Civil Human Rights Front has applied for permission for a march in Tsim Sha Tsui from Salisbury Park to the West Kowloon Train Station at 13:30. A human chain is expected in Shatin from The Riverpark to Sand Martin Bridge at 20:00.

Advice

Hong Kong pro-democracy activists plan to stage a major march this weekend that has been ruled as illegal. Avoid all areas of large crowds or protests due to the risk of violence.
