Weekly reports of hand, foot and mouth disease at high level in Singapore

Since February, every week the number of children infected with the virus that causes hand, foot and mouth disease has been increasing. From April 17th to April 23rd, there were slightly more than 1,000 infected children. This is the highest weekly number in several years. The total for the year has now reached 12,166 cases.

Small children are most susceptible to infection with this virus. Travellers who are travelling with small children can decrease the risk of exposure to hand, foot and mouth disease virus by washing hands frequently and by maintaining careful personal hygiene.
