West Nile Fever in USA at end of season

As the winter season begins, mosquito activity will decline nationwide, and the transmission of West Nile Fever virus will stop. This year, 47 states and the District of Columbia reported a total of 1,521 infected people, of whom 71 have died. Texas reported the largest number of infected people. West Nile virus was found in people, birds, and mosquitoes in many jurisdictions in 2016.

The risk of exposure to this virus is practically nil at this time. However, the virus will return in infected mosquitoes next summer season.
