The number of reported cases of West Nile Fever in the USA has increased to 708, with 29 deaths. These cases are widely distributed across 46 states and the District of Columbia. California and Texas have reported the most cases, 123 and 105 cases, respectively.

Advice For Travellers

While the risk for the general traveller is low, infected mosquitoes are wide spread. Since there is no vaccine or treatment for West Nile fever, travellers to areas where this virus has been found can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites.
