As the mosquito populations increase in the summer season, the number of reported cases of West Nile Fever will increase. So far, there have only been 4 cases, one each in Kansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas. More cases are expected.

Since there is no vaccine or treatment for West Nile fever, travellers to areas where this virus has been found can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites.
