West Nile Fever virus found in Chicago area mosquitoes

Health authorities in the Chicago area have warned residents that the virus causing West Nile Fever has been found in the local mosquito populations. Other areas in the USA, such as New York City and Nashville, Tennessee, the states of Illinois and Mississippi and the Mississippi River Valley have issued similar warnings.

Travellers should be aware that, as the summer season begins, there is an increased risk of exposure to West Nile Fever virus. Travellers should take all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites in areas where the virus has been found.
