While the USA is experiencing the largest number of reported cases of West Nile Fever infection since the virus first appeared in North America, Canada has registered a total of 162 clinical cases in the provinces of Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta. Since there is no vaccine or treatment for infections with West Nile fever virus, travellers to areas where the West Nile Fever virus has been found can reduce their risk of exposure to this virus by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites.
