West Nile Virus infections in USA and Canada

Overall, 1,332 cases of West Nile virus disease with 66 deaths have been reported to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). California and Texas continue to report most of the cases.

In Canada, there have been 44 cases, all but 5 of whom occurred in Ontario and Quebec.

Advice For Travellers

Since there is no vaccine or treatment for West Nile fever, travellers to areas where this virus has been found can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites.
