Widespread protests in Ecuador March 19, 2015

In Ecuador, large country-wide demonstrations will take place on Thursday, March 19, 2015, to protest current government policies. Demonstrations will occur in Quito, Guayaquil, and Cuenca. It is likely there will be other protest sites as well.

In Quito, demonstrations are likely to occur near the intersection of Avenida de los Granados and Avenida 6 de Diciembre. A march will begin at Parque El Arbolito, next to Parque El Ejido and adjacent to Avenida La Patria, at 4:00 p.m. to march on Avenida 10 de Agosto and Calle Guayaquil to Plaza San Francisco.

In Cuenca, protesters will gather at Parque San Blas at 4:00 p.m. and march to Parque Calderon.

In Guayaquil, protesters will gather at the Malecon at 4:00 p.m. and march to the Governor’s Office.
