Winter storm hits northern California, Oregon, Washington and Nevada, USA

Persistent heavy rains have caused the worst flooding in the past 11 years in northern California and Nevada. More than 5,000 people were forced to leave their homes. A state of emergency was declared in Nevada due to the heavy rain, especially near the city of Reno.

In Oregon and Washington, cold temperatures turned the rain to ice, and numerous accidents with several deaths were reported on Interstates 84 and 90, due to extremely dangerous driving conditions.
