In addition to the previous reports of measles outbreaks in Canada (Alberta), Guinea and the USA (California and Hawaii), measles cases, deaths and outbreaks are currently occurring in Pakistan (Madyan), India, Japan (Kyoto, Tokyo and other cities), Vietnam (24 provinces and cities), Australia (Queensland), and New Zealand (Auckland).

Outbreaks of the highly contagious measles virus can occur frequently anywhere in the world at any time. Travellers can reduce their risk of exposure to measles virus by ensuring that their childhood vaccinations, including measles, are up-to-date prior to travelling.
