Yellow fever epidemic in Darfur, Sudan, expands to Khartoum

With the report of a case of yellow fever in Khartoum, health authorities are urging all people in the city to protect themselves from mosquito bites. The use of insecticide impregnated mosquito nets is recommended. To date, 80 people have died in the Darfur region, the site of the outbreak. Travellers who visit Darfur or Khartoum should be aware that they may be required to show proof of yellow fever vaccination before entry into other countries.
