Yellow fever in Cameroon (update)

With 4 newly reported cases of yellow fever (2 from the Littoral, 1 from the Centre and 1 from the East Region), the total number so far in 2013 is reported to be 15 cases. However, earlier this year, the Minister of Health reported that the total was 1,184 cases of yellow fever registered since the beginning of the year.

Regardless, travellers to areas where there is a risk of exposure to yellow fever can reduce that risk by obtaining a yellow fever vaccination before travelling. In addition, travellers should take all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Travellers are reminded that many other countries require proof of yellow fever vaccination upon arrival for all travellers equal to or greater than 9-12 months of age arriving from a country where there is a risk of yellow fever. A list of countries requiring proof of yellow fever vaccination before entering the country may be found at: http://www.who.int/ith/chapters/ith2012en_countrylist.pdf.
