Yellow Fever in Uganda

Health authorities have reported 48 deaths due to an outbreak of yellow fever virus infection in Abim, Agago, Lawo, Pader, Kitgum, Gulu, Arua, Kabong, Kotido, and Lira. An additional 190 cases have been detected in the past couple of weeks. Travelers should be aware that false vaccination cards are being sold for requirements for visa applications. A large scale vaccination campaign will be carried out in the month of January.

According to health officials, the last recorded outbreak in Uganda occurred almost 40 years ago.
