Yellow fever reported in Peru

At lest 4 people have been infected with the yellow fever virus in the Junin area (provinces of Satipo y Chanchamayo). Three of the infected people have died. All appear to have acquired the infections in the jungles, so-called jungle or sylvatic yellow fever.

Advice For Travellers

While the risk for the general traveller is low, the risk may be high for persons entering forested areas without a yellow fever vaccination at least 10 days prior to their travel. Authorities have announced that a yellow fever vaccination centre is located in Pedregal.
