Advice For Travellers

Although there is no evidence at present to indicate that the Zika virus has spread to the Dominican Republic, its relatively rapid spread in several states of Brazil suggests that this virus will also spread throughout Latin America and the Caribbean where the correct mosquito vector is commonly found. Following measures for avoiding mosquito bites will help reduce the risk of exposure to dengue, chikungunya and Zika viruses, as well as other mosquito borne infections.
