Security in Lybia remains volatile and elusive
Libya’s government continues to struggle to control renegade fighters and militias who gained power during the revolt that started in the city of Benghazi. In addition to the recent attack on the US embassy, the head of police in Benghazi was killed in front of his home last month. Last Wednesday, a bomb exploded in front of a police station in Benghazi, and four policemen were wounded. Travellers should be aware that personal security in Libya is fragile at best. Several countries advise their citizens to avoid all travel to Libya at this time.
