Wildfire at Funny River near Soldtona, Alaska, threatens recreation area
The Funny River wildfire at Soldotna, Alaska on the Kenai Peninsula has grown to over 193 square miles. Today’s reports indicate that the fire is only 20 percent contained. The fire is threatening an area of about 150 cabins, vacation homes and year-round residences in three communities. Today, an evacuation notice has been issued for structures near the blaze.
