Drought brings water rationing in Puerto Rico

Strict water rationing has been imposed for parts of Puerto Rico as reservoirs are drying up. Water supplies are being cut off indefinitely on alternate days for 700,000 residents, mostly in the San Juan area. The most affected customers acquire water from the La Plata Reservoir in Toa Alta, which provides water to 37 percent of the metropolitan area. A long, dry summer is forecast.
